Ashgate Hospice in Derbyshire is making an urgent appeal for more volunteers to ensure its biggest annual fundraising event is a success. The charity’s flagship Sparkle Night Walk, a 10k event, will take place on Saturday, June 27. While nearly 200 volunteers have already signed up to help, the hospice is calling for an additional 50 people to join the team on the night.
Thousands of participants are expected to take part in the iconic walk, raising vital funds for specialist palliative and end-of-life care and support across North Derbyshire. Volunteers will play a crucial role in supporting walkers by marshaling along the route, directing participants, and offering encouragement throughout the evening.
No previous experience is required, and the charity welcomes individuals from all backgrounds. The only requirement is enthusiasm, as the team works together to create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
A Night to Remember
James Branson, Ashgate Hospice’s events and community fundraising manager, described the event as a fantastic way to support the hospice. "The atmosphere is vibrant, energetic, rewarding, and deeply moving. Seeing so many people come together to support Ashgate Hospice is truly amazing," he said.
"Whether you're looking to meet new people or spend time with friends and family, volunteering on the night is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference while supporting a cause that means so much to our community."
