PSP Association Seeks Volunteers for New Lincolnshire Support Group
PSP Association Seeks Volunteers for Lincolnshire Group

The PSP Association (PSPA), a UK charity, is looking for two friendly and organised volunteers to help establish a new Support Group in Lincolnshire. The group aims to provide a regular, safe space for families affected by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), rare and terminal neurological conditions. With approximately 10,000 people affected in the UK, families often feel isolated and unsupported.

Support Group Objectives

The Lincolnshire Support Group will reduce isolation by bringing families together for peer-to-peer support, condition-specific updates, and connections to local services. Prior knowledge of PSP and CBD is not essential, as full training and support will be provided. Volunteers need to donate up to four hours per month for tasks including:

  • Finding an accessible venue for meetings.
  • Organising and facilitating meetings with local speakers or activities.
  • Promoting the group locally to reach affected families.
  • Linking community members with PSPA.

Ideal Volunteer Qualities

No professional qualifications are required, but the ideal candidate should be:

  • An empathetic listener with strong communication skills.
  • Organised, reliable, and passionate about community building.
  • Familiar with Lincolnshire and its diverse communities.
  • Able to commit four hours monthly.
  • Willing to learn more about PSP and CBD.

Lavonne McCormack, PSPA’s volunteer coordinator, said: "We held an awareness event in March and attendees welcomed a Support Group. We need two volunteers—a coordinator and a helper—to launch the group and extend PSPA’s support into Lincolnshire. These rewarding roles allow you to make a real difference."
