Despite a couple of early showers, 17 ramblers enjoyed a tough but scenic 10-mile walk on Wednesday from Clapham to Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire three peaks. The route included Trow Gill, Gaping Gill, and Little Ingleborough before reaching the final summit.
Local Walk from Tottington
On Sunday, the group stayed local for a six-mile walk from Tottington, Bury. An early shower gave way to warm sunshine, allowing eight walkers to enjoy lovely views and hear historical details as they visited the Kirklees Trail, Hawkshaw, Redisher Woods, and Sunmerseat.
Upcoming Pub Walk
On Saturday, May 23, there will be a sociable two-hour pub walk from Hawkshaw, Bury. The walk will explore the local area, including the Army Training Camp and Quarlton Heights, before returning to the pub for optional refreshments and lunch with an extended social.
Ribble Valley Walk
On the following day, a seven-mile walk in the Ribble Valley will take the group along the River Ribble to Hurst Green, Bailey Hall, and Merricks Hall, ending at Salesbury Memorial Hall. The walk finishes by around 2pm, leaving plenty of time for family.
Belmont Walk
On Wednesday, May 27, a 10-mile walk from Belmont Village, Bolton, will traverse part of the Witton Weavers Way and visit Ward’s Reservoir, known locally as the Blue Lagoon, before taking a moorland path to Great Hill and returning via the ruins of Hollinshead Hall.
