Superdrug at Merry Hill Promises Major Expansion After 37 Years
Superdrug at Merry Hill Promises Major Expansion

Superdrug, a beloved store that has been a fixture at Merry Hill for 37 years, has unveiled its brand-new look and promised further expansion. The retailer, which has been in the shopping centre since 1989, moved into a larger unit formerly occupied by HMV earlier this week, as announced on social media.

New Unit and Future Growth

The move to a larger space at the Brierley Hill centre is just the beginning. Superdrug has revealed that it will eventually expand into the unit it left behind as well. In a TikTok update, Merry Hill Superdrug shared: "Don't miss us, we're only next door!" showcasing the new store and hoarding at the former unit.

When asked about the future of the old unit, Superdrug responded: "We will be in both units eventually!" adding, "Keep your eye out, we're going to get EVEN BIGGER."

New Features Planned

In response to shopper inquiries about the renovated former unit, Superdrug listed planned additions: a nurses clinic, an updated beauty studio, a Beauty Playground, and significantly more space. Beauty Playgrounds are larger areas for testing cosmetics with an expanded range of brands.

Superdrug's West Bromwich store was among the first to launch this concept last year.

Expansion Details

The expansion was first reported in April when Merry Hill management shared details. A spokesperson stated: "We're thrilled that Superdrug has chosen to significantly increase its current store at Merry Hill. Since opening in 1989, the brand has remained incredibly popular with our visitors. Clearly demonstrating its confidence in the centre, Superdrug will double its existing footprint to an impressive 16,000 square foot, making it one of the largest stores in the UK."

The new-look shop will offer an even greater range of beauty and wellbeing brands, along with treatments such as ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading.
