A new restaurant is set to open in Birmingham's Grand Central shopping centre following a wave of closures. Sushi Tachi has put up signage at the former Fuel juice bar in Grand Central, next door to Sweet Joe's cookie store just before you reach Link Street.
First in the Midlands
The sushi spot serves up Japanese cuisine in a number of locations in Hong Kong as well as two branches in London. The new Grand Central store is a first in the Midlands for Sushi Tachi, and it also has Bond Street in Leeds on its 'coming soon' list too.
Perfect Reviews
Both London branches of Sushi Tachi have perfect five-star Google reviews, with diners celebrating the 'delicious and beautiful sushi' and the 'very good' prices. Among the options in London is a 10-piece sushi combo for £17 or sushi rolls and a drink for £7.99.
Former Fuel Unit
Fuel closed in Grand Central back in April, though it still has a branch over the other side of Link Street, in the Bullring. It was one of a number of brands to exit the space above New Street Station in the last year, with Caffe Concerta, Costa and the Perfume Shop among them.
New Sushi Spots in Birmingham
Sushi Tachi is one of a number of new sushi spots that has announced plans to open in Birmingham this year. KIBOU is the latest to announce its city plans, moving in on Temple Row this summer. It will replace Riva Blu which will serve its final customers in the city on Sunday, June 21. On New Street, Maki and Ramen is preparing to move in at King Edward House, down near Pizza Hut. Sticks 'n' Sushi is opening up on Chamberlain Square in the autumn too. Earlier this year, Sushidog opened at the Bullring for burrito style rolls, while over in Selly Oak, Flavour Lounge began serving sushi at the old Deli 17 location in June.
