Batley Town Hall is set to host a stellar comedy lineup this Sunday (June 21) as Tez Ilyas and Daliso Chaponda take the stage for 'The Great Giggle Together', the latest production from Gag N Bone Man Comedy.
The event is part of the 10th Great Get Together, the UK’s annual celebration of community connections, inspired by Jo Cox’s belief that we have more in common than that which divides us. This year’s Great Get Together runs from June 19 to 21, marking a decade since the then Batley & Spen MP was killed in Birstall.
Organiser's Vision
Graeme Rayner, owner of Gag N Bone Man Comedy, said: "In the years since Jo was tragically taken from us, I have been honoured to volunteer at many events held in her memory across the area. Seeing the various parts of our community come together to celebrate what we have in common has been heart-warming, and comedy is perhaps one of the most powerful ways people can be united. We’re putting on a superb show that we hope will appeal to everyone in the area, with some superb talent."
Star-Studded Lineup
Headlining the show is Tez Ilyas, known for his role as Eight in the sitcom 'Man Like Mobeen', as well as appearances on 'Live at the Apollo', 'Mock the Week', 'The Last Leg', and his own Channel 4 series, 'The Tez O’Clock Show'. Opening the evening is Daliso Chaponda, who has featured on 'Have I Got News for You', 'The Royal Variety Performance', 'Britain’s Got Talent', and 'QI'. Daliso rose to fame after reaching the final of 'Britain’s Got Talent' in 2017, becoming a firm favourite with judges and the public.
The lineup also includes Chloe Reynolds, Leicester Comedy Festival’s Comedian of the Year, and rising star Bobby Jethro from Bradford. The event is organised by Graeme Rayner and Fazila Aswat, a former member of Jo Cox’s staff who was with her when she passed away.
Community and Charity Focus
Any profits from the show will be split equally between Oxfam, a charity Jo Cox worked for and supported, and Gag N Bone Man Comedy’s nominated charity of the year for 2026, YWCA Yorkshire, which supports women survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Fazila Aswat commented: "Now more than ever our community needs to come together to show 'we have far more in common' and what better way than to share laughter."
Tickets and Venue
Tickets for the show are priced at £15 and are available at Gagnboneman.com/tickets or through the Kirklees Town Halls Box Office in person or online. The event takes place at Batley Town Hall in Kirklees.
