The 2026 Gower Walking Festival has officially been launched with tickets now available. This annual celebration of the Gower Peninsula features a programme designed to encourage appreciation of the area’s unique landscape and rich heritage while promoting the benefits of walking.
22nd Year of the Festival
Now in its 22nd year, the festival offers a diverse and sustainable programme of walking events with minimal environmental impact. This year, more than 30 guided walks are planned across the Gower Peninsula, aiming to attract up to 500 participants. Organisers hope to see increased participation from locals discovering new aspects of Gower and visitors drawn by its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty status.
Walks for All Abilities
The festival includes walks for all abilities, from seafront strolls to off-the-beaten-track hikes. Linda Welch, chair of the organising committee, said: "As always, we will celebrate all of Gower with walks along the seafront to more challenging hikes. You’ll discover coastlines, flora and fauna, industrial history, and meet people from the past who helped put Swansea on the map."
New Additions for 2026
New walks have been introduced, including a vocal chords walk through native woodland and a beach clean event to give back to Gower. The festival runs from Saturday, September 5 to Sunday, September 13. Tickets are available at www.gowerwalkingfestival.uk.
