A new tea shop is set to open on Birmingham's New Street, taking over the premises vacated by Claire's Accessories earlier this year. Signs have appeared at the unit, indicating that Bird and Blend will occupy the space next to Size? on the bustling shopping street.
What is Bird and Blend?
Bird and Blend is a specialty tea retailer known for its wide selection of loose leaf teas, matcha, and tea bags. The shop also offers a variety of tea accessories, including bottles, teapots, strainers, and matcha tools. This will be the brand's first location in Birmingham.
Other Changes on New Street
Elsewhere on New Street, Maki and Ramen is moving into King Edward House on the lower section of the street. At the top end, Chopstix has submitted a planning application to transform the former Boojum unit with its signage.
As of now, Bird and Blend has not announced an official opening date, but it is expected to open before the end of the month. The adjacent Lloyds Bank branch is currently closed for renovations and is scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 6.
Claire's Closure and Replacement
Claire's vacated the New Street unit in April after the company entered administration. Its Bullring store also closed, and a replacement for that space was revealed this week. Australian jewellery brand Harli and Harpa has put up signage on the empty Bullring unit, located a few doors down from Lovisa. The founder of Lovisa also established Harli and Harpa, both known for affordable jewellery.
We will provide further updates on Birmingham's retail scene as more information becomes available.
