This Fourth of July, revellers will flock to an unassuming stretch of Birmingham canal for an annual celebration of American culture. Two must-visit spots in South Birmingham, both within walking distance of each other, are going all out for Independence Day.
Brew Export Beer Cave: A Haven for Craft Beer Lovers
The first venue is Brew Export Beer Cave, a drinks warehouse with its own taproom and refrigerated space packed with American beers. Located on the Waterside Business Park between Stirchley and Cotteridge, it sits opposite the junction of Lifford Lane, with a sunny beer garden on the canalside. The industrial setting gives it a gritty, Blue Collar energy that Springsteen fans would love.
For the July 4 weekend, beer lovers can enjoy an East Coast vs West Coast menu featuring drinks from breweries across the USA, including IPAs, DIPAs, pales, and pils. There are also fun cream stouts with flavors like Biscoff-style biscuit, peanut butter cups, milkshakes, and cheesecakes, as well as smoothie sours with mango, passionfruit, peach, strawberries, and cream. Mead is also available. The venue is at Unit 4b, Waterside Business Park, 1649 Pershore Road, Birmingham, B30 3DR.
Rodeo's: A Honky Tonk Party with Live Music and BBQ
A 15-minute stroll down Lifford Lane, Rodeo's is a beloved honky tonk and sister venue to the Wolverhampton branch. It features a free bucking bronco, American beers under a wealth of US licence plates, and a dancefloor for line dancing. This July 4, Rodeo's is hosting an open-air show with tribute performers to stars like Morgan Wallen, Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, and Ella Langley, plus a second stage for acoustic acts. Smoked barbecue food and long-neck ice-cold beers are on offer, while Ariat, Stetson, and the Rodeos Western Store sell country and western merchandise. The venue is at Lakeside, 180 Lifford Lane, B30 3NU, with a few tickets still available.
Who knew the Worcester and Birmingham Canal could be so much fun?
