Birmingham Dogs Home Family Fun Day: Parking, Tickets, What to Expect

Birmingham Dogs Home is set to host its annual family fun day, aiming to raise crucial funds for its operations. The charity spends approximately £6,000 daily to keep its two centres in Solihull and Wolverhampton open, rescuing over 2,000 dogs each year. The event seeks to generate vital income so the organisation can continue supporting abandoned dogs across the region.

Event Details

The family fun day will take place at the Catherine-de-Barnes centre on Saturday, 20th June 2026, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Free parking is available, and tickets are purchased on entry: £2 for adults, £1 for children, and dogs enter free of charge.

Activities and Attractions

Attendees can enjoy dog shows, training demonstrations, stalls from local businesses, a variety of food and refreshments, children's entertainment, and numerous 'have a go' activities designed to keep the whole family entertained. Visitors will also have the chance to see firsthand how the home supports homeless and vulnerable dogs across the West Midlands.

Why the Venue Change

The charity decided to bring the event back to its original location to foster stronger connections between supporters and the dogs they help. Staff and volunteers will be available throughout the day to offer advice on training, veterinary care, responsible pet ownership, and adoption for those interested.

Comments from the Organisers

Rachel Frost, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Dogs Home, said: “We're absolutely delighted to be bringing our ‘Family Fun Day’ back to Birmingham Dogs Home this year. Not only does it allow visitors to enjoy free parking and all the fantastic activities we have planned, but it also gives people the opportunity to see first-hand the place where thousands of dogs receive care, support, and a second chance every year.

“Our ‘Family Fun Day’ is all about bringing our community together. Whether you're entering the dog show, browsing the stalls, enjoying the demonstrations, or simply spending time with fellow dog lovers, every person who attends helps us continue our work with homeless dogs across the West Midlands.

“We're incredibly grateful to our supporters, volunteers, stallholders, and local businesses who help make events like this possible, and we can't wait to welcome everyone for what promises to be a fantastic day.”
