Birmingham has become the host city for the United Kingdom's first-ever DreamHack festival, a major gaming event often referred to as the 'Glastonbury of gaming'. The three-day extravaganza kicked off yesterday at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), drawing thousands of enthusiasts from across the nation and beyond.
A Global Gaming Phenomenon Arrives in Britain
DreamHack, recognized as one of the largest gaming festivals worldwide, marks its debut on British soil with this Birmingham edition. Historically, the festival has been held in international hubs such as Atlanta, Stockholm, Bucharest, and Valencia, fostering connections among global gaming communities. The festival's opening day featured appearances by notable internet personalities, including I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle. He shared the stage with Heinz and Jakey from the Bov Boys for a session filled with banter, challenges, and fan meet-and-greets. Attendees captured moments of Ginge engaging with fans and taking selfies, highlighting the interactive nature of the event.
Today, members of The Sidemen—Simon (Miniminter), Josh (Zerkaa), and Tobi (TBJZL)—are scheduled to host meetups and participate in live challenges with gamers. Their activities include playing EAFC26 live and conducting a Meet & Greet for direct fan interaction. Additionally, DM Tommy Gofton will present the Squad 20 cast in a time-traveling live show, featuring special voice actor guests like Carolina Ravassa, Jason Spisak, Justine Huxley, and Mela Lee, known for roles in Arcane, Batman, and Apex Legends.
