Angry parents are demanding refunds after a highly-anticipated Willy Wonka-themed event in Glasgow turned out to be a major disappointment, with families describing it as "shambolic" and "an absolute disgrace."
What Promised to Be a Magical Experience
The £35-per-ticket event, organised by House of Illuminati and promoted as "Willy Wonka's Chocolate Experience," promised families an immersive adventure through "a world of pure imagination" with "optical marvels" and "extraordinary props."
Instead, visitors encountered a nearly empty warehouse in Whiteinch, Glasgow, with minimal decorations and what one parent called "the most disastrous children's event I have ever been to."
Parent Outrage and Social Media Backlash
Stuart Sinclair, who attended with his three-year-old daughter, told organisers: "I want a refund - this is an absolute disgrace." He described the event as featuring "a bouncy castle, one small bouncy ball and a couple of plastic mushrooms."
Another parent, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "My daughter was crying her eyes out. It was shocking."
The event has sparked outrage on social media, with numerous parents sharing their disappointing experiences and warning others to avoid the attraction.
Event Organisers Respond
House of Illuminati acknowledged the problems in a Facebook statement, admitting: "Today has been a very stressful and frustrating day for many and we are sorry."
The company cited "overwhelming demand" and "technical issues" for the problems and promised full refunds to all ticket holders, stating they were "truly sorry for any upset and disappointment caused."
Glasgow City Council confirmed they were aware of the situation but stated the event was privately run and refunds were a matter for the organisers.
