Hull Truck Theatre Family Open Day Returns on June 13
Hull Truck Theatre Family Open Day Returns June 13

Summer would not be complete without the return of Hull Truck Theatre's Family Open Day. This free event for the whole family will once again be presented by Hull Truck Theatre and the Albemarle Music Centre. Taking place on Saturday, June 13, from 11am to 3pm, it is set to be another fantastic event where the public can dive into a day of discovery, creativity, and exclusive experiences at no cost. Audiences and members of the local community will be invited to see what really goes on behind the scenes of both working venues.

Vibrant Fun for All Ages

Face painting, arts and crafts, and drama workshops are just a few of the activities available. With a full programme of family-friendly activities taking place at Hull Truck Theatre under the theme 'Access All Areas', families can not only get involved together but also learn about the different ways in which Hull Truck Theatre makes theatre as welcoming and accessible as possible for everyone.

There will be loads to get involved with on the day, including technical theatre workshops, stagecraft, drama workshops, arts and crafts, face painting, and a soft play area for children under three.

Musical Celebrations at Albemarle Music Centre

At the Albemarle Music Centre, you will be able to celebrate the joy of music with live performances from Beats Bus, and take part in drum circles, instrument try-out stations, The Big Sing, and early years workshops. Do not miss the chance to win four free tickets to one of this year's Christmas shows: Wind in the Willows or Hansel and Gretel. Simply complete the passport trail and hand it in at a Passport Desk at Family Open Day. You will then be entered into a prize draw, with the winner being contacted the week after.

Backstage Tours and Accessibility

You can also catch a glimpse of the inner workings of a theatre with Backstage Tours at Hull Truck Theatre, available to book now with limited places. A BSL interpreter will be available on site all day. Tours are at 11:15am, 12pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm, and 2:15pm.

Emma Lightowler, communications manager at Hull Truck Theatre, said: 'Hull Truck Theatre's Family Open Day is always a great day out. We loved doing the backstage tour and seeing all the bits we never see or appreciate when we are just watching a show. There's lots of free things for families to do, we always come home with faces painted and some crafty creations!'

This is a free fun family day out. So, whether you are curious, creative, or just looking for a brilliant day out with the family, come along and be part of it. No ticket is required for this event (apart from the backstage tours); you can simply show up on the day and take part in the fun.
