Mablethorpe Beach in Lincolnshire has been named the best beach in the Midlands by the AA, scoring 62.70 out of 100 in a new analysis of 228 Blue Flag beaches across the UK and Ireland. The beach features golden sands, gentle waves, and a range of family-friendly amenities including cafés, fish and chip shops, crazy golf, and a fairground.
AA Rankings Methodology
The AA research evaluated beaches based on sunshine hours, water quality, lifeguard presence, visitor reviews, and other factors. Each beach received a score out of 100, with Exmouth Beach in Devon topping the overall list at 76.42. Mablethorpe ranked 43rd overall but secured the top spot for the Midlands region.
According to an AA spokesman, Mablethorpe benefits from excellent water quality, lifeguard patrols, 196 hours of sunshine in July, and comfortable sea temperatures of 17°C. The beach also boasts an impressive Google review score of 4.7, with daily parking costs of just £5.30.

The beach offers a peaceful sand-dune escape to the north and a central promenade with classic British seaside attractions, including arcades, donkey rides, and fish and chip kiosks. For those wishing to extend their stay, Golden Sands Holiday Park in Mablethorpe provides pet-friendly caravans with open-plan living and balconies.
