Two acclaimed choirs will come together for a special evening of music at Belmont Abbey in Herefordshire. The performance will take place at 7pm on Friday, June 27, bringing the distinct voices of both ensembles into the abbey's spectacular setting.
The concert will feature performances from celebrated northern girls' choir Cantamus and Hereford-based women's choir Le Voci, bringing together two award-winning ensembles with a deeply personal musical connection. That connection is Jo Williamson, director of Le Voci, who began her own singing journey as a child with Cantamus. The reunion of the two choirs for this concert marks a poignant full-circle moment in Jo's distinguished musical career.
The occasion has added significance as Jo Williamson prepares to retire following her extraordinary tenure as singing teacher and choir director of Cantabile Girls Choir at Hereford Cathedral School. She has inspired generations of young singers, making an outstanding contribution to choral music both in Herefordshire and nationally, as former pupils perform professionally all over the country and her choirs continue to win awards.
Audiences can expect an uplifting and varied programme, showcasing the exceptional talents of both choirs. Le Voci will be accompanied by composer Dr Robert Peate, who has written many original works for the ensemble, several of which will be included in the programme.
Proceeds from the concert will support the work of Yeleni Therapy and Support, a Herefordshire-based charity providing specialist therapies and support for those affected by cancer and long-term health conditions. Tickets cost £12 for adults (£5 for students) and are available in advance from Eventbrite and on the door subject to availability.
