The world of Indian cinema is in mourning following the death of legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra at the age of 89.

The beloved star, affectionately known as the 'He-Man' of Indian cinema, had recently been discharged from Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on November 12. He was believed to be stable and recovering at home before his passing.
Dharmendra's remarkable career spanned an incredible 65 years, during which he appeared in more than 300 films. He holds the distinguished record for starring in the highest number of commercially successful movies in Indian cinema history.

Prominent filmmaker Karan Johar confirmed the news with an emotional tribute, describing Dharmendra as "the embodiment of a hero in mainstream cinema."
"It's the end of an era, a massive mega star, incredibly handsome and the most enigmatic screen presence," Johar wrote. "He only had immense love and positivity for everyone … his blessings, his hug and his incredible warmth will be missed more than words can describe."
Johar added that there is now "a gaping hole in our industry … a space that can never be filled by anyone … there will always be the one and only DHARAMJI."
Actor NTR Jr expressed his sorrow on social media platform X, writing: "Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dharmendra ji… An era he defined can never be replaced and the warmth he brought to Indian cinema will stay with us forever."

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a vintage photograph of Dharmendra with her late grandfather, legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. She captioned the image "Forever in power," reflecting the enduring impact the actor had across generations of Indian cinema.
Dharmendra's contribution to Bollywood remains unparalleled, having established himself as one of the most recognisable and beloved figures in Indian entertainment throughout his six-decade career. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in film history.
