Fans of the razor-sharp Brummie gangsters can finally mark their calendars, as the long-awaited Peaky Blinders film has officially been given its release date.
Shelby's Return to the Big Screen
'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man' will gallop into select cinemas worldwide on 6 March 2026. For those preferring to watch from the comfort of their own parlour, the film will then become available globally on the streaming service Netflix just two weeks later on 20 March 2026.
The announcement was made via the official Peaky Blinders social media channels, confirming the legendary gypsy gangster Tommy Shelby, once again portrayed by the iconic Cillian Murphy, is far from finished. Murphy himself told Netflix, "It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me," expressing his enthusiasm for the project.
A New, Explosive Chapter in Wartime
Penned by the series' Brummie creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper, the film is set to propel the Shelby clan into a tumultuous new era. Strong rumours suggest the plot will be set against the backdrop of the Second World War, with Tommy being recruited into the shadowy world of espionage and covert operations for British intelligence.
Knight teased the film's intense premise, stating, "The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war."
The promotional poster released harkens back to the final shot of the television series, featuring Tommy Shelby seated stoically atop his horse, signalling a direct narrative continuation.
Star-Studded Cast and Production Status
Murphy won't be returning alone. The film boasts an impressive supporting cast including acclaimed actors Tim Roth and Barry Keoghan. They are joined by Jay Lycurgo, who recently won a BIFA for Best Supporting Performance for his role opposite Murphy in the Netflix film 'Steve'.
Production for the cinematic outing wrapped in December 2024, and the project has since been moving through the essential post-production phases, which include editing, visual effects, and sound design.
This film promises to be a major event for the show's global fanbase, serving as both a continuation and a cinematic escalation of the Shelby family saga. As Cillian Murphy aptly put it, "This is one for the fans."
