Do Percy and Sam End Up Together in the Series?
The television adaptation takes a different path. Showrunner Amy B. Harris explained to Deadline that from the start, they planned to end the season with Sam and Percy not together. She intentionally kept them standing apart, offering a version of a happy beginning rather than a settled ending. Harris stated, "For the audience they're getting a version of a happy ending but this is just the beginning for them."
Sam and Percy are on better terms, but they are not a couple. There remains significant emotional work for both characters. Harris teased that if a second season is greenlit, their relationship will remain complicated. Sam still harbors feelings about the past, and Percy's guilt lingers. "They still have a lot of emotions and issues to work through," she said.
What Could Season 2 Bring?
Harris expressed interest in exploring what happens after a happy ending, noting that relationships are not static. The unresolved tension between Percy and Sam sets the stage for future development. Whether they ultimately reunite remains uncertain, but the showrunner hinted at a nuanced journey ahead.
