Tip Toe Plot
Set in suburban Manchester, the series explores the world of Canal Street bar owner Leo (Cumming) and his neighbour, electrician Clive (Morrissey). Channel 4 describes Leo as "vivid, funny and dynamic," while Clive is "unsmiling and troubled." The official synopsis states: "But just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense. Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and gradually, two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe."
Cumming revealed on ITV's This Morning that he had been eager to collaborate with Russell T Davies for two decades. He characterized the thriller's themes as "overwhelming and brutal," adding: "It's about the way that violence and hatred are sort of normalised so much in our culture nowadays. It's hopefully a wake-up call for everybody."
Tip Toe premieres tonight, Sunday, May 31, at 9pm, on Channel 4.
