Aston Villa Donates Old Seats to Scunthorpe United

Aston Villa have given permission to Scunthorpe United to salvage old Villa Park seats that are being replaced this summer. The National League club, who also wear claret and blue, visited B6 this week to collect a number of seats removed from the Trinity Road Stand at Villa Park.

Stadium Redevelopment Plans

Villa are replacing all of the seats in the Trinity Road Stand this summer, while major work continues around the ground, including redevelopment of the North Stand. Next season, Villa Park’s capacity will drop to around 37,000 due to the closure of the North Stand. The stand is scheduled to reopen before the start of the 2027–28 season, increasing the stadium’s capacity to over 50,000.

By closing the stand, Villa say they can deliver substantial infrastructure improvements, including approximately 500 square metres of new first-team changing, medical, and physiotherapy facilities, alongside upgrades to all player competition areas. There will also be a new tunnel, with the possibility of introducing a 'tunnel club'.

Further Enhancements

While work continues on the North Stand over the next 12 months, further enhancements are also being made elsewhere in the stadium. On X, Scunthorpe’s official account shared a variety of images, explaining that Villa had gifted them the spare seats for their own use.
