Local History Society Hosts Talk on Capel y Dyffryn Origins
Talk on Capel y Dyffryn at Llandyrnog History Society

The next meeting of Cymdeithas Hanes Lleol Llandyrnog and Llangwyfan Local History Society will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at 7pm in Capel y Dyffryn, Llandyrnog. Emrys Wynne will give a talk in English titled Capel Y Dyffryn – From its humble beginnings.

About the Speaker

Emrys Wynne is a son of the Manse, having been brought up in the Graigfechan and Pentrecelyn area where his father was minister of Capel Bethel Pentrecelyn. He attended Ysgol Brynhyfryd and Bangor University. After deciding librarianship was not for him, he trained as a teacher and taught at schools in Rhiwabon, Treffynnon/Holywell, Ysgol Argoed, Mynydd Isa, Penarlag/Hawarden, and Dinas Bran, Llangollen.

After retiring, he stood for a seat on Denbighshire County Council on behalf of Plaid Cymru and has represented Ruthin on the Council since 2017. He is a member of the Cabinet with special responsibility for the Welsh language, culture, and heritage. He also chairs the Welsh Language Steering Committee and sits on the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Joint Committee and the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education.
