Love Island 2026 star Mica Harris is turning heads in the villa, but her family background is even more remarkable. With ties to the prime minister of Barbados and global superstar Rihanna, Mica is arguably the most connected contestant in the show's history.
Who Is Mica's Family?
Mica's aunt is Mia Mottley, the prime minister of Barbados. A lawyer and politician, Mottley has led the country since 2018 and has been head of her political party since 2008. Her parents were also high-profile politicians, and her cousin, the late Eva Mottley, was an actress known for her role in the classic British comedy Only Fools and Horses. Eva also dated David Bowie for two years.
Beyond politics, the family has connections to music icon Rihanna. Mica shared with The Sun that she once met Rihanna unexpectedly. 'Rihanna was staying two doors down from my grandparents' house,' she said. 'Aunty Mia picked me up one day and said we were visiting granny and grandad. Then she pulled into Rihanna's house! My first thought was, why didn't you give me more time to prepare?'
Mica's Humble Attitude
Despite her famous relatives, Mica remains grounded. 'My family is always in the papers in Barbados, but it's never directly me,' she explained. 'My last name is Harris, so I can fly under the radar.' She acknowledged that Love Island's global spotlight is new to her but said she is excited and positive about the experience.
In the villa, Mica is currently coupled up with Samraj, though she has yet to form a strong romantic connection. Her positive energy has made her a standout islander.
