Alison Hammond Makes Candid Strictly Come Dancing Confession About Embarrassing Moment
Popular television presenter Alison Hammond has opened up about what she describes as an "awful" moment from her time competing on Strictly Come Dancing. The This Morning host made the surprising revelation during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, where she joined other celebrity guests including Ruth Jones and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The Unforgettable Strictly Incident
Hammond, who first rose to fame on Big Brother in 2002 before appearing on numerous television shows including I'm A Celebrity and The Great British Bake Off, participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014. She was partnered with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec, with the couple ultimately finishing in 10th place during that season.
The 51-year-old presenter recalled a specific moment during week seven of the competition when they were dancing to Robin Williams' "Friend Like Me." "There is a moment where he does a cartwheel and I had to kind of pick him up and then help him over," Hammond explained. "He goes into this cartwheel and I pick him up and I break wind. I look at him and I go, 'Let's never talk about this again.'"
Physical Challenge Leads to Embarrassing Result
Hammond revealed that the incident occurred during a lift sequence where she was supporting her dance partner. "At the time he couldn't lift me so we thought don't worry I'll lift you, I can do it," she said. However, the physical exertion proved more challenging than anticipated. "I didn't realise that he's quite a heavy guy - it literally took the wind out of me," Hammond admitted with characteristic humor.
Despite the embarrassing moment, Hammond spoke positively about her overall Strictly experience and her partnership with Skorjanec. Amid recent controversies surrounding the show, including professional dancers being dropped from the lineup, Hammond emphasized her positive memories. "I had Aljaz Skorjanec and he was absolutely incredible," she said. "He was so amazing to me and gentle as well and kind. I've never experienced anything bad really."
Beyond Strictly: New Television Project
During the same television appearance, Hammond also discussed her upcoming program called Your Song. She described the show as focusing on songs that hold deep emotional significance for participants. "Your Song is exactly that. It's your song that you feel emotionally attached to - it got you through a rough time at school or you know, it reminds you of someone who has passed on," Hammond explained.
The program features people from across the country performing meaningful songs on stage, often for the first time. "People go on stage who have never sung before and they sing a song to a random audience," Hammond said. "It's just one of the most beautiful shows ever."
The Jonathan Ross Show featuring Hammond's revelations aired on ITV1 and ITVX, giving viewers insight into both her memorable Strictly experience and her latest television venture.
