The Cake International event, a major celebration of cake decorating and sugarcraft, is set to return to Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre (NEC) this November, featuring a life-sized cake sculpture of the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate.
Event Details and Dates
Taking place from Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3, 2024, the event will showcase hundreds of exhibits, demonstrations, and competitions. Organisers expect thousands of visitors to attend the three-day event, which is known as one of the largest cake decorating shows in the UK.
The life-sized cake sculpture of William and Kate is a highlight of this year's programme. Created by a team of skilled sugarcraft artists, the sculpture aims to capture the likeness of the royal couple in intricate detail. According to the event organisers, the sculpture is made entirely from edible materials, including sugar paste and modelling chocolate.
Competitions and Demonstrations
In addition to the royal sculpture, Cake International will feature a range of competitions for amateur and professional cake decorators. Categories include wedding cakes, novelty cakes, and sugar flowers, with prizes awarded for the most impressive creations. The event also includes live demonstrations from leading cake artists, offering tips and techniques for attendees.
“We are thrilled to bring Cake International back to the NEC for another year,” said a spokesperson for the event. “The life-sized sculpture of William and Kate is a testament to the incredible skill of our cake artists, and we are sure it will be a crowd-pleaser. We invite everyone to come and see the amazing work on display.”
