Euphoria actor Darrell Britt-Gibson has addressed the growing fan theories about a potential romantic relationship between Maddy and Bishop in season 3. The HBO series saw Bishop, the right-hand man of drug kingpin Alamo, develop a soft spot for Maddy, leading viewers to speculate about their future together.
Did Bishop like Maddy in Euphoria?
In season 3, Maddy seeks help from Alamo after Cassie and Nate's messy antics, but the assistance comes at a sinister price. Alamo sexually coerces Maddy, a situation witnessed by Bishop. In the final episode, Bishop betrays Alamo following Rue's devastating death and protects Maddy, saving her in the process. This sweet treatment has prompted fans to ship the pair.
Speaking to Decider, Britt-Gibson teased that he knows exactly what happens after the finale but remains tight-lipped. "I interpret it in a lot of different ways. I have my ideas," he said. "I actually know what [it is] — I love that it now belongs to fans. I love that they get to have it and it gets to be theirs, and whatever they want it to be."
In a separate interview with TV Insider, Britt-Gibson explained that Maddy played a key role in Bishop's decision to betray Alamo. "There’s also the conversation in the car where she says, 'What I’d like in this world is a little bit of grace,'" he noted. "Bishop is a layered character, you never really get a handle on what he’s feeling or where he’s going or what he’s going to do." He added: "I think with Maddy, he sees something there, and the Alamo of it all has to stop, so if nobody’s going to stop it, then it’s time for him to do it himself."
Fans have taken to social media to express their support for the pairing, with tweets highlighting the chemistry between the characters. One user wrote: "wait because why are maddy and bishop kinda... #Euphoria," while another said: "WHY DOES HE LOWKEY LIKE HER ? #euphoria."
Britt-Gibson also referenced Bishop's dog, Snowflake, as a sign of his capacity to love. "I promise you that is the most taken care of dog because Bishop… if he loves something, he’s going to love it fully," he said.
