McDonald's axes £2.99 Big Mac survey meal, fans furious at new £5 spend offer
McDonald's axes £2.99 Big Mac survey meal, fans furious

McDonald's customers are furious after the fast-food chain axed a popular perk that allowed them to get a full meal for just £2.99. The Food for Thought survey, printed on the back of receipts, previously offered a Big Mac for a reduced price, along with discounted options for Quarter Pounder, Fillet-O-Fish, and included fries or a side salad.

New reward requires £5 spend

Now, the reward has changed to a free medium fries, cheeseburger, Oreo or Smarties McFlurry when customers spend £5 or more at the chain. This means that people still participating in the survey will need to spend £5 to receive a discount.

McDonald's statement

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “Customer feedback is incredibly important to us. Our Food for Thoughts survey takes just a few minutes to complete and offers great value in return for customers’ time and opinions. It’s just one example of how we continue to deliver value for customers, alongside trusted favourites like our Wrap of the Day and our Saver Menu.”

Customer backlash

However, fans aren't pleased. One said: “It isn’t even an offer.” Another added it's a “joke and not the good kind.” A third accused the chain of “just being greedy.”

The change has sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many loyal customers expressing their disappointment over the loss of the £2.99 meal deal.
