NEC Birmingham Offers Free Tickets for Bank Holiday Weekend

The NEC in Birmingham has released a limited number of free tickets for the bank holiday weekend, offering families a cost-effective way to enjoy major events and exhibitions without spending money.

Free Tickets Available for Popular Attractions

The giveaway follows a study by the NEC revealing that parents reach breaking point just 19 days into the school holidays as they run out of activities for children. To help families, the NEC is providing free tickets to attractions including PEPPA PIG Space Adventure, a hands-on walk-through journey from Peppa’s front door to the moon, and Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition, which features 360-degree projections, VR, and free-roaming metaverse technology to bring Ancient Egypt to life.

For thrill-seekers, the Gladiator Experience brings the TV show to life, allowing visitors to test strength and skill. Those who do not secure free tickets can still visit NEC Lakeside, a free outdoor cinema and play area open daily throughout the summer with no tickets or booking required.

Registration Deadline and Details

Interested families must register their interest before Monday, August 24. A limited number of tickets are available, and the NEC advises acting quickly. To enter, complete the form at https://win.necgroup.co.uk/sos-nec-events/ and specify the number of free tickets requested.

The offer addresses the summer holiday headache parents face in finding new ways to entertain children while managing household budgets. The NEC’s research found that by week three of the summer break, parents become frustrated juggling childcare, work, and constant requests for entertainment. The average parent spends more than five hours a week searching for fun activities for the family.

Statement from NEC Leadership

Sarah Harvey, Deputy CEO at the NEC, said: “Six weeks of summer can feel endless when you’re juggling work, childcare and rising costs, and our research shows just how quickly parents can run out of ideas. We wanted to give families a chance to enjoy brilliant days out together without worrying about the spend, which is why we’re offering a limited number of free tickets. It’s our way of helping parents reclaim that final weekend of the summer to have some fun before the kids go back to school.”

The free ticket initiative is designed to give parents a proper day out without any cash outlay, as they count down to the end of the school holidays or search for ways to keep children entertained.
