A spectacular afternoon of live music is set to enchant Woodley as the popular touring brass band Oddfellows Brass makes a welcome return to the area. The talented 28-piece ensemble will deliver a wonderful two-hour concert featuring an eclectic mix of musical genres, from classical and opera to stage, film, and traditional brass band compositions.
Concert Details
The highly anticipated event will take place at Christ Church in Woodley on Saturday, June 27, starting at 2pm. The band, hailing from Leicestershire, is making its return to the town after a previous performance in 2018. Tickets for the special concert are priced at £10, which includes a welcoming hot drink and a slice of cake.
Organiser and Band Comments
The afternoon has been organised by Reading Oddfellows, a local group dedicated to bringing people together. Rob Boulter from the band said: “Our shows are always great fun, and can be enjoyed by avid brass enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Everyone can sing and dance along!” He added: “We love travelling up and down the country and bringing our music for all to enjoy, and we can’t wait to play for the Reading crowd once again. The Oddfellows is one of the UK’s oldest and largest friendly societies and has supported the band since 1981. Debbie Jex from the society said: “Oddfellows Brass brings such brilliant energy to the stage and we’re delighted that we’re able to share that with our community. Reading Oddfellows has more than 1,000 mostly older, retired local members and hosts many affordable events open to anyone. Other upcoming activities include a weekly singing group with the next session at 10.30am on Wednesday, June 30. There is also a fortnightly arts and crafts group with the next meeting at 10am on Thursday, July 1. Both of these regular groups meet at the Reading Oddfellows' hall located at 118b Oxford Road.
The society also hosts around 60 free online events every month to help improve people's lives through friendship.
