Thinktank, Birmingham's science museum, is offering £5 tickets for its Made in Birmingham tour during Birmingham Heritage Week, a significant saving compared to the usual admission price of £18.95 for adults and £9.95 for children.
The 45-minute guided tour runs daily from September 11 to 20, starting at 3pm and finishing at 3.45pm. The £5 ticket includes entry to the museum, based at Millennium Point, but only after the tour has taken place.
Tour details and museum access
Visitors who wish to explore the museum before the tour must purchase a regular admission ticket. The museum remains open until 5pm, allowing tour attendees approximately an hour and a quarter to view the exhibits after the tour concludes.
A spokesman for Thinktank said: "Step inside Birmingham’s incredible industrial past and creative present with the Made in Birmingham Tour — a captivating 45-minute guided journey through some of the city’s most iconic inventions and engineering marvels."
"Explore a handpicked collection of extraordinary Birmingham-built objects, including the mighty Smethwick Engine and the legendary Spitfire. Hear the fascinating stories behind these innovations and the brilliant minds and skilled hands that brought them to life — the makers who shaped a city known as the 'workshop of the world.'"
Booking and location
The spokesman added: "Visitors are welcome to explore the rest of the museum after the tour and will not require an admission ticket, however, general admission will be required if you wish to visit the museum before your tour."
The tours start from the Smethwick Engine on level 0. Thinktank is located at Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham, B4 7XG. Tickets are available each day during Birmingham Heritage Week, with booking available through the museum's website.
Birmingham Heritage Week 2026 features hundreds of hidden places opening, popular attractions offering free entry, free National Trust tickets, and a secret 'oasis' opening to the public, alongside the Thinktank tours.
