Myles Davis, the Penkridge cricketer who made headlines with a remarkable double hat-trick, recently appeared as a mystery guest on Sky Sports' popular YouTube series 'Stick to Cricket'. The show featured a panel of England cricket legends, including Sir Alastair Cook, Phil Tufnell, Michael Vaughan, and David Lloyd.
How It Unfolded
It was Sir Alastair Cook who correctly guessed the identity of Davis, a 22-year-old seamer from Penkridge in the South Staffordshire Premier Division. Davis stunned the cricket world last month by taking six wickets in six balls for his hometown club in a league victory over Pelsall.
Davis told the panel: "I couldn't celebrate on the day because I was on call for my job. The game finished and I was back to work. It's safe to say I celebrated this weekend."
Family and Banter
Davis was joined in the studio by his father Neil, a club stalwart and groundsman. Former England captain Michael Vaughan engaged in playful banter with Neil about the wicket, while David Lloyd commented on the charming appearance of Penkridge's home ground at Pillaton.
Monty Panesar's Absence
Also present as a guest was Monty Panesar, who was supposed to face Davis and Penkridge for his club side Pelsall. However, the former England spinner missed the match due to his 44th birthday. Panesar smiled and said: "It was my birthday! I was celebrating with family and friends. I was glad I missed it, I probably would have got done first ball as well."
Historic Feat
Records show that Davis, an electrician by trade, is only the seventh player in history to achieve six wickets in six balls. His haul came across three overs, with figures of 7-16. In his most recent match, Penkridge lost to Fordhouses by three wickets, with Davis taking 2-51.
The 'Stick to Cricket' panel also discussed community questions, including potential alternative careers for the players and whether any club had ever offered private jet travel to a game—to which Davis replied: "Not yet!"
