Scott Wright's Injury Woes Continue at Dundee

Birmingham City winger Scott Wright's injury nightmare has persisted during his loan spell at Dundee, casting doubt over his future at St Andrew's. The Scottish winger joined Dundee in January in a bid to revive his career with regular game time, but has been hampered by persistent niggles and knocks.

Wright finally made his first Scottish Premiership start last weekend, playing 69 minutes in Dundee's 3-0 derby defeat to Dundee United. However, he reported a knee issue afterwards and has been unable to train this week, making him a doubt for Saturday's match against St Mirren.

This start was his first competitive appearance since rupturing his ACL in a League One fixture between Blues and Reading on February 22 last year. The 28-year-old, who joined Blues from Rangers in 2024, has struggled to find form and fitness.

Dundee boss Steven Pressley said: "We have only one player who is a doubt at present in Scott Wright. It's been a frustrating time for Scott. Obviously, when he came in he had a couple of games where he made a good impression coming off the bench and then we thought he was getting closer. Then he had a setback with his injury. He then played at the weekend there and he's had a slight setback. But that's not saying that he'll not be ready for the weekend. There is a doubt about him, he's not trained so far this week."

Wright is contracted at St Andrew's until next summer, but he is not expected to force his way back into Chris Davies' plans. Birmingham City are well stocked in wide areas with Carlos Vicente and Patrick Roberts competing on the right and Demarai Gray on the left. There is also a desire in-house to bring Brighton loanee Ibrahim Osman back to the club.
