Fans of the iconic metal band Slipknot have received the news they've been waiting years to hear: the group's mysterious 'lost' album, Look Outside Your Window, finally has a confirmed release date.
A Promise Fulfilled After Years of Waiting
During a recent Discord Q&A session, Slipknot co-founder and percussionist Shawn 'Clown' Crahan made a definitive announcement. He confirmed that the long-delayed project, originally penned and recorded back in 2008, is now scheduled to arrive in 2026. Crahan directly addressed the band's dedicated followers, stating, "I want you to know 2026 is the year."
He expressed his own frustration with the lengthy delay, confessing he is "getting tired of waiting" to share the music. Crahan urged the Maggots – the band's fanbase – to "have faith," adding a sincere promise that the time has finally come.
The Story Behind the 'Lost' Record
Look Outside Your Window is no ordinary shelved project. It was created during a specific and prolific period for the band, recorded around the same time they were working on their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone. The material was crafted by a core quartet of Slipknot members: Shawn Crahan, Sid Wilson, Jim Root, and Corey Taylor.
In past interviews, frontman Corey Taylor has hinted at the album's distinct sonic direction, suggesting it possesses "much more of a Radiohead vibe" compared to the band's typically aggressive signature sound. This description has only fueled fan curiosity and anticipation over the intervening years.
New Music on the Horizon for the Nine
The revelation about the 'lost' album coincides with other promising updates from the Slipknot camp. The band's current drummer, Eloy Casagrande, has recently indicated that fresh material is in active development.
In a conversation with Drummer's Review, Casagrande revealed, "We are cooking, we are doing some new music, for sure." He explained that since joining the band, members have been consistently exchanging ideas, riffs, and beats, resulting in productive jam sessions and a wealth of new material. "We have a lot of material right now," he confirmed, signalling that the next chapter for Slipknot is already being written.
For the global Slipknot community, the dual promise of a legendary unreleased album finally seeing daylight and the active creation of new music marks an incredibly exciting phase. After nearly two decades of speculation, 2026 is now firmly circled on the calendar as the year the window finally opens.
