A marathon runner from the West Midlands features in a new Channel 4 documentary undergoing what is billed as the UK's first 'lunchtime boob job'. The procedure, an awake breast augmentation that takes around 90 minutes, is part of the series Surgery Secrets of the Super Rich, which explores the world of elite cosmetic treatments.
Patient describes unusual sensation
Phoebe, the patient, remained awake throughout the operation and compared the sensation to 'trying to get into a pair of jeans that are too tight'. She added, 'You really got to force them on.' The technique is designed to be less invasive than conventional breast enlargement surgery, reducing disruption to surrounding tissue and shortening recovery times.
Inside the world of elite cosmetic surgery
The series takes viewers inside private clinics catering to wealthy clients, showcasing procedures from advanced injectable enhancements to complex deep plane facelifts. Cameras gain access to some of the UK's leading cosmetic surgery clinics, where specialists explain the techniques behind their most sought-after treatments.
Motivations and costs explored
Camilla Lewis of Curve Media, the production company, said the series was created to look beyond social media trends and celebrity headlines. It examines the people choosing cosmetic surgery, their motivations, and the procedures fuelling Britain's growing aesthetics industry. She described the programme as 'an eye-opening look at a world that many people rarely get to see'.
Undetectable beauty trend
Channel 4 commissioning editor Deborah Dunnett said cosmetic surgery has entered 'a new era', pointing to the rise of 'undetectable beauty'. The series offers a rare opportunity to understand the treatments now available, their costs, their impact on the body, and recovery times. The programme consists of six hour-long episodes.
Surgery Secrets of the Super Rich airs at 8pm tonight on Channel 4.
