A new update appears to confirm the future of a closed Birmingham bar. Sixes Cricket at the Mailbox, which shut its doors last December, was part of a chain that entered administration. Now, the chain has been saved by new owners, but the Birmingham venue was not included in the list of bars reopening.
Chain Saved, Birmingham Excluded
The locations that were saved include London Bridge, Sussex, Bournemouth, Bristol, and Watford. While other venues are listed as open on Google, the Mailbox bar remains marked as 'permanently closed'. Sixes opened in 2022 as a destination for cricket lovers, offering batting and bowling practice along with drinks. It replaced Cafe Rouge on Wharfside Street in the city centre.
Social Media Announcement
On Instagram, Sixes posted: "Under new ownership and with a fresh chapter ahead, we're proud to be continuing the Sixes experience and we cannot wait to welcome you through the doors. A huge thank you to every member of the Sixes team, past and present, for the business and brand you built, and for delivering great experience throughout. The nets are ready. It's time to play."
Sixes was approached for comment by BirminghamLive.
