Jesy Nelson has announced the release date for her new Amazon Prime Video documentary, Life Changing, set to premiere on Friday, July 17, 2026. The former Little Mix star describes the one-hour film as 'the most heartbreaking series' she has ever made, documenting her twin daughters Ocean and Story's battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Documentary Details and Release
The documentary, streaming on Prime Video, will likely be available from 12:00am BST on the release date, though neither the platform nor Nelson has confirmed an exact time. Unlike her previous series Life After Little Mix, this is a single episode offering what Nelson calls 'a small glimpse into what my girls have to go through every single day.'
In an Instagram post confirming the start date, Nelson wrote: 'This is truly the most heartbreaking series I've ever had to make, and I urge you all to watch it. No future babies born with SMA should have to live their lives like this. I am so grateful for all of your continued support and I will keep on shouting about this until change is made.'
SMA Campaign and Parliamentary Progress
Since her daughters' diagnosis, Nelson has campaigned tirelessly for universal newborn screening for SMA. In June 2026, she attended the Houses of Parliament for a debate on SMA testing, where it was announced that screening would be introduced from October 2026—but only for 72% of newborns in England due to limited testing facilities.
Nelson responded: 'I cannot believe we are still debating this. You are basically telling me that if you live in a certain postcode, you're not as important. It's outrageous.'
Call for Universal Screening
Nelson emphasizes that early diagnosis through the heel prick test can make a life-saving difference. She wrote: 'Early diagnosis can change EVERYTHING. I'll keep saying it until no family has to experience this again: no future babies born with SMA should have lives that look like this.' The documentary aims to raise awareness and push for change, highlighting the urgent need for routine SMA screening for all newborns.
