Barratt Homes Donates £1,500 to Cavendish Primary's Playground Project
£1,500 Donation for Cavendish Primary Playground

A major boost has been given to a long-running campaign to enhance a primary school playground in South Manchester, thanks to a generous donation from a national homebuilder.

Funding for Final Stage of Playground Transformation

Barratt Homes has contributed £1,500 to the Cavendish Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Cavendish Community Primary School in West Didsbury. The funds will be directed towards the final phase of the playground improvement project, which has been a key focus for the charity for some time.

The PTA, which is run entirely by parent volunteers and has supported the school for 13 years, is raising money to build a small stage and an amphitheatre within the play area. This new facility is designed to serve as a versatile outdoor learning and performance space.

Creating an Inclusive Space for All Pupils

Rachael Pardoe, who serves as Co-Grants Officer for the Cavendish PTA, explained the vision behind the project. She stated that the new amphitheatre will be fully inclusive and suitable for children of all ages, from nursery pupils up to those in Year 6.

"It will provide an outdoor learning area," Pardoe said. "Whether it be for teaching or performances, this space is intended to enrich the daily experiences of every student at our school."

Community Support and Future Vision

The donation was made through The Barratt Redrow Foundation's Community Fund scheme, which supports charities across the regions where the housebuilder operates. Rhys Nicholson, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, expressed his pride in supporting the initiative.

"We are very excited to see the progress of the amphitheatre project," Nicholson commented. "We look forward to hearing about the great learning opportunities that develop once it is completed."

The Cavendish PTA is well-known in the local area for organising a vibrant calendar of events that bring together children, families, and the wider West Didsbury community. These include:

  • School discos and film nights.
  • Popular summer and Christmas fairs.
  • The famous annual Bonfire Night display.

All these events are coordinated by the PTA committee and delivered with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers. The new outdoor stage will undoubtedly become a central feature for many future community gatherings and school activities.
