Talented teenagers from Derby have showcased their creative work at a major London gallery, Somerset House, as part of the National Saturday Club programme run by the University of Derby. Their artwork was displayed alongside creations from more than 2,000 young people from across the country.
Graduation Ceremony and Family Support
Families and friends travelled to the capital to watch the teenagers take part in a special graduation ceremony, celebrating their achievements after a year of creative exploration.
Free Weekly Sessions for Teens
The National Saturday Club provides free weekly sessions for 13 to 16-year-olds who want to explore creative arts. Over the past year, members participated in hands-on workshops and worked directly alongside professional artists.
Trips and Activities
Trips included a visit to Chatsworth House, where the group explored the gardens and tried traditional photographic printing. The teenagers also teamed up with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust at Allestree Park to learn how nature can inspire creative projects. Other activities included recording an original song in a professional studio at Baby People and visiting Derby Theatre. The group also took part in a specialist lettering workshop led by professional typography artist Alice Tosey.

For many, it was the first time their creative work had been displayed in a nationally recognised exhibition and we’re proud to have given them the opportunity to experience that."
