A Bishop's Stortford primary school marked its 20th anniversary with a wild west themed hoedown that raised £3,000 for new school equipment. Windhill21 Primary School held the celebration on Thursday, July 16, 2026, drawing pupils, staff, and families together for a day of cowboy-themed activities.
Fundraising Event Details
The event was organized by the Windhill School Association and sponsored by housebuilder Taylor Wimpey North Thames, which contributed £500 toward the festivities. Attendees enjoyed ice cream and bubble tea while participating in inflatables, line dancing, and panning for gold. Other activities included horseshoe water shooting, cactus lassoing, a water balloon tin can alley, and a giant marble run.
To further boost fundraising, eight teachers—including the headteacher—volunteered to be soaked by pupils in a dunking booth.

Sarah Wood, headteacher at Windhill21 Primary School, said: "This year’s hoedown was an exceptional success, bringing our entire school community together for a truly unforgettable event. From non-stop line dancing and bustling stalls to giant inflatables and the crowd-favourite dunking of our brave teacher 'villains'. It was a fantastic showcase of our school spirit, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make it such a memorable celebration."
