Birmingham City Secure Young Talent Finn McGreevy
Birmingham City have confirmed the signing of exciting young winger Finn McGreevy, who has impressed during a trial at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park. The 18-year-old has signed a two-year contract and will join the Blues' Under-21s squad ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
Player Background and Trial Success
McGreevy, who operates on both wings, arrives after spending last season with Hampton & Richmond Borough. He began his time there with the Under-18s before earning a first-team call-up in September 2025. His performances during a short trial at Birmingham City caught the attention of the coaching staff, who were impressed by his pace, attacking intent, and ability to influence games from either flank.
According to the club statement: "Birmingham City are pleased to announce the signing of exciting young winger Finn McGreevy following a successful trial period with the Club. The 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal and will link up with the Blues Under-21s squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign."
Attributes and Playing Style
Described as a quick, dynamic, and direct winger, McGreevy is comfortable on both the left and right. He is equally capable of driving beyond defenders to deliver dangerous crosses or cutting inside to combine with teammates and create goalscoring opportunities. His addition provides another exciting attacking option for Under-21s manager Scott Sellars.
Beyond football, McGreevy has a background in Gaelic football, having represented London at overage tournaments in Ireland. He also started his first season playing men's club football for his childhood team, Gael Londain in Sunbury-On-Thames.
Club Statement and Future Prospects
The club concluded: "Everyone at Birmingham City would like to welcome Finn to the Club and wish him every success during his time here." The signing reflects the club's commitment to developing young talent and strengthening the Under-21s squad for the upcoming season.
