A stay-at-home mother who died after reportedly plunging from a cliff at a well-known Stoke-on-Trent beauty spot has been named as Renata Krzykala. The 49-year-old, of Ford Hayes Lane, Bentilee, was found by dog walkers at Park Hall Country Park on August 25.
Inquest opened into death
An inquest into Renata's death has been opened and adjourned. Coroner Lindsey Tonks told the court: "Renata was located in Park Hall Country Park, off Hulme Road, in Adderley Green. She suffered traumatic injuries following a fall from height."
Dog walkers passing through the park spotted a body at the base of a cliff. Paramedics and police attended and confirmed life extinct at 4.30pm.
Post-mortem findings
A post-mortem examination has been carried out which suggests the cause of death is severe thoracic trauma following a fall from a cliff. The coroner said further information is required.
Miss Tonks added: "We will ask her GP for a medical overview. We will also be looking for any condition which may have contributed to a fall." She also offered her sincere condolences to Renata's family.
Police not treating death as suspicious
Emergency services are compiling evidence ahead of the concluding inquest hearing, which has not yet been scheduled. Staffordshire Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 4pm on Tuesday 25 August to Park Hall Country Park following a report of a sudden death. Officers attended alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Sadly, a woman was pronounced dead by paramedics. We are not treating the death as suspicious and a file is being submitted to HM Coroner."
The circumstances surrounding how Renata came to suffer her fatal fall remain unclear. The Sentinel has contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service for comment.
