Base 51 Hosts Outburst Colour Run to Support Youth Mental Health
Base 51's Outburst Colour Run Returns for Fourth Year

Base 51, a charity dedicated to supporting young people in Nottingham for over three decades, is bringing back its popular 'Outburst Colour Run' for the fourth year. This lively event sees participants doused in colourful paint powder as they complete the course, all to raise essential funds for Base 51's transformative work with individuals aged 11 to 24 in the region.

Event Details

The fun run is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, at 1pm at Nottingham Girls' High School on Arboretum Street. Runners and walkers can complete the course as many times as they wish, ensuring they leave thoroughly coated in vibrant colours.

Verity Woods, head of fundraising and events at Base 51, expressed her enthusiasm: "We are thrilled to host the Outburst Colour Run once again. It is always a joyful occasion filled with paint powder and laughter. The funds raised are crucial for our work with vulnerable young people, allowing us to provide a safe space for mental wellbeing support. Charities are facing tough times, so every contribution makes a significant difference to a local organisation like Base 51. We look forward to seeing everyone on June 7!"

Sponsorship Opportunities

The charity is also seeking sponsors for the event, offering local businesses a chance to promote their brand while supporting a worthy cause. Sponsors can secure places for their employees to participate.

Youth Mental Health Crisis

With one in four young people in England experiencing mental health problems in 2024, up from one in nine in 2017, and over one million young people referred to mental health services in 2022/23, the need for support is urgent. Base 51 provides a range of services, including person-centred counselling, a youth club, and Outburst, their dedicated LGBTQIA+ group.

One service user shared: "I am grateful that services like this exist to support young people. I did not know where else to turn. Base 51 has always helped me when I am in trouble, and I appreciate what they do for me."
