Beauty Pie Hair Spray Recalled in UK Over Deadly Bacteria Risk
A popular hair essential has been urgently recalled in the UK over a high microbiological risk that may lead to growth of deadly bacteria. The Beauty Pie Super Healthy Hair Magic Smoothing Heat Shield Spray presents a high microbiological risk as testing has indicated that it loses efficacy over time, which may lead to the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, according to the Labour Party government's Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS).
The product has been recalled from end users by Beauty Pie Limited. The company stated: "Batch 3094A of this product presents a microbiological risk as testing has indicated that it loses efficacy over time, which may lead to the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This microbial may pose a risk to consumers, particularly to those who are immunocompromised. The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009."
Beauty Pie Limited has withdrawn the product from the market and recalled it. Affected users have been contacted directly by the company. Described as a coconut water-based hair product, the affected batch was sold between December 11, 2024, and May 6, 2026. The product was sold via Beauty Pie and also on Amazon.
In glowing online reviews, one shopper commented: "I love this product and have ordered it several times. It's part of my hair wash routine, every single wash." Another said: "This product has a lovely smell. Certainly does the job. Only used twice, but I am sure it will become one of my favourites." A third added: "My ride or die go to for protecting my hair extensions. It's super lightweight, effective and smells lovely. I've used so many heat protectants over the years but this is by far my favourite. The spray is very fine and spreads across a lot of surface area. Highly recommend."
