Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell has candidly shared the challenging physical symptoms she is facing during her pregnancy, describing some as 'extremely painful'.
Strictly Star's Night-Time Struggles
The 36-year-old dancer, who is expecting her first child with partner Joe Sugg in the new year, revealed the difficulties on her podcast, Winning Isn't Everything. Despite continuing to perform in group numbers on the BBC show, Buswell is grappling with intense discomfort, particularly at night.
She detailed suffering from restless leg syndrome and severe cramps, which have disrupted her sleep. "My legs at night are very restless," she explained, recounting one instance where she had to turn around in bed and place her legs up against the wall to find relief.
Seeking Relief from Pregnancy Pains
Buswell also mentioned that she sought out a pregnancy massage but found the gentle approach unhelpful for her specific aches. She highlighted that the painful cramps are localised, stating, "I've had two cramps in my right side calf and they've been extremely painful."
Her partner, Joe Sugg – whom she met when they were paired on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 – was reportedly baffled by her novel sleeping position to alleviate the restless legs.
Common Symptoms Confirmed by NHS
The symptoms described by the TV star are recognised as common occurrences during pregnancy. According to NHS guidance, both muscle cramps and restless legs syndrome can affect expectant mothers.
The health service lists typical signs of restless legs syndrome as:
- A powerful urge to move your legs.
- Uncomfortable sensations like tingling, throbbing, or itching.
- Pain in the legs.
Dianne Buswell's openness provides a relatable insight for many, highlighting the less glamorous but very real aspects of pregnancy while maintaining a busy professional schedule on one of the UK's most beloved television programmes.
