Martin Lewis has responded to Jeremy Clarkson's cancer diagnosis, pointing out a positive indication following the concerning news. The Clarkson's Farm host disclosed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last summer in the final episode of the Amazon Prime series' fifth season.
Although he described the cancer as "aggressive," it was fortunately detected "really early." The series was filmed last year, and since then, Clarkson has been active on social media, including a warning on Instagram on Tuesday night.
He said the episode would be "a difficult watch" before fans saw him break the news to his farm manager, Kaleb Cooper, and land agent, Charlie Ireland. In the episode, he added: "The prostate, 10 per cent of it's dead. The 10 per cent where the cancer is."
Martin Lewis discussed the update on Good Morning Britain with Richard Arnold and Susanna Reid. He remarked: "That timeline is interesting there. That diagnosis was effectively a year ago. Thankfully he's still around, he's still with us and still putting messages on social media, so let's hope that's a good sign."
Reid then urged viewers at home to "get checked," as symptoms can be difficult to spot. In the episode, Clarkson said: "If I hadn't have got myself checked out and they hadn't caught the problem early, this could well have been my last harvest. It's only because they did catch it early, there's every hope that I'll be harvesting this farm for many, many years to come."
He added: "So we started season five in a hospital bed and here we are at the end of season five, I'm back in a hospital bed. Some of the treatment has gone awry, let's say. I'll probably be here for a little while."
