A new survey has revealed the six non-negotiable routines that Brits swear by to boost their productivity and wellbeing. The study, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of a wellness brand, polled 2,000 UK adults and identified key habits that are considered essential for a balanced day.
Morning Tea Tops the List
The most popular routine is a morning cup of tea, with 68% of respondents citing it as a non-negotiable start to their day. This is followed by making the bed (54%), a morning walk (47%), and a healthy breakfast (45%).
Evening Rituals Also Key
Evening routines are equally important, with 42% of Brits insisting on a wind-down period before bed, such as reading or listening to music. Additionally, 39% say they must have a consistent bedtime to ensure adequate sleep.
Impact on Wellbeing
According to the survey, those who stick to these routines report higher levels of happiness and lower stress. Dr. Sarah Brewer, a nutritionist and health expert, commented: "Having a set of non-negotiable routines provides structure and stability, which can significantly improve mental health and overall wellbeing."
Regional Variations
The survey also found regional differences: Londoners are most likely to start the day with a workout (32%), while those in the North West prefer a morning coffee (71%). Meanwhile, Scots are the most likely to make their bed (61%).
Generational Differences
Younger Brits (18-24) are more likely to include a skincare routine as non-negotiable (28%), while those over 55 prioritize a daily crossword or puzzle (22%).
Expert Advice
Psychologist Dr. Linda Papadopoulos added: "Routines help us feel in control, which is especially important in uncertain times. They don't have to be elaborate; even small, consistent actions can make a big difference."
