State Pensioners Get Free BBC TV Licence with Pension Credit
Free BBC TV Licence for Pension Credit Recipients Over 75

State pensioners are having their BBC TV Licence bills reduced to £0, even if they have savings or own their own homes. This is possible through Pension Credit, a benefit that provides extra money for those over State Pension age on a low income.

What is Pension Credit?

Pension Credit helps with living costs and can also assist with housing expenses such as ground rent or service charges. Crucially, according to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), you can qualify for Pension Credit even if you have other income, savings, or own your home.

Free TV Licence for Over 75s

TV Licensing states: "If you’re 75 or over and you get Pension Credit, you can get a free TV licence." The licence covers everyone living at your address. You can apply when you’re 74 if you already receive Pension Credit, but you must pay for your licence until the end of the month before your 75th birthday. After that, you are covered by the free licence.
