The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is providing £459 to 30,000 people with 24 skin conditions through Personal Independence Payment (PIP). PIP is a benefit for four million claimants, designed to help with extra costs of living with a long-term health condition or disability.
PIP Payment Rates
PIP consists of two components: a daily living rate and a mobility rate. The daily living rate is £76.70 per week at the standard level and £114.60 per week at the enhanced level. The mobility rate is £30.30 per week at the standard level or £80.00 per week at the enhanced level. The amount you receive depends on the level of help you need.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for PIP, you must have a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability, difficulty performing certain everyday tasks or getting around, and expect these difficulties to last for at least 12 months from when they started.
How to Claim
Call the PIP new claims phone line and answer basic questions about yourself and your condition. You will then be sent a form asking how your condition affects you. Complete and return the form to the address provided. If more information is needed, you may be required to have an assessment.
