Simon Crumpton, a 40-year-old man from Willenhall, has been charged with four shop theft offences following a series of alleged incidents in the Black Country. He was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on July 13.

West Midlands Police arrested Crumpton in the early hours of Sunday, July 12, after a string of alleged shop thefts in Willenhall between July 5 and 8. Officers detained him in Walsall.

A police spokesperson confirmed: "We’ve arrested and charged a man with four shop thefts in Willenhall. Simon Crumpton, aged 40, from Willenhall, will appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (Mon) for a first appearance. He is charged with thefts from shops in Willenhall between 5 and 8 July."

Police Operation to Tackle Shop Thefts

The arrests are part of a broader initiative by West Midlands Police to combat retail crime. The spokesperson added: "Shop thefts is a priority at Walsall LPA. We launched Op Marigold in a bid to tackle shop thefts across the Walsall borough."

Operation Marigold aims to reduce the impact of shoplifting on local businesses and communities, with increased patrols and targeted enforcement. The four charges against Crumpton reflect the police's commitment to addressing this issue.
