Travis Kelce has revealed that he secretly planned his proposal to Taylor Swift while recording a podcast episode with her, sharing new details about the romantic milestone during the season four finale of his New Heights podcast.
Kelce Reflects on Proposal Planning During Podcast
The NFL star, 36, opened up about the moment he decided to ask Taylor Swift to marry him, admitting that her appearance on the podcast in August 2025 held deeper significance than listeners realised. 'During that recording, the entire time I'm planning like, I'm gonna ask this woman to marry me after this,' Travis recalled on the episode, which aired after their wedding.
Travis and Jason Kelce discussed standout moments from the season, with Travis calling Taylor's appearance 'pretty epic' alongside Tom Brady's appearance later in the season. Jason noted that Taylor's episode became the podcast's most viewed episode of all time. 'It was, by far, our most viewed episode of all time,' Jason said.
Secret Preparations at Home
According to Page Six, Travis arranged for a team to set up the proposal location in his garden while Taylor was recording the podcast episode, allowing him to ask her to marry him immediately after filming wrapped. The couple announced their engagement in September 2025 via a joint Instagram post captioned: 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.'
Wedding at Madison Square Garden
The couple celebrated their wedding last weekend (July 3) at Madison Square Garden in New York, with approximately 1,000 guests in attendance. Among them were Taylor's close friends Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid, as well as many of Travis's Kansas City Chiefs teammates.
The wedding marks the latest milestone in their relationship, which began after Travis revealed on New Heights that he had attempted to give Taylor his phone number after attending her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City in 2023. Taylor later explained in her 2023 TIME Person of the Year interview why she was comfortable sharing their romance publicly: 'When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care. The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.'
