Reform UK celebrated a sweeping victory in Tamworth at the 2026 local elections, winning every seat that was contested. The surge in support for Nigel Farage's party was enough to strip Labour of its control over Tamworth Borough Council.
Landslide Victory
Reform UK candidates were elected in all nine wards up for election on Thursday, with many securing more than half of the vote. The results demonstrated a strong shift in voter sentiment towards the party.
Ward Results
- Amington: Hayley Coles (Reform UK) - 53%
- Belgrave: Peter Utting (Reform UK) - 56%
- Bolehall: Dylan Powis (Reform UK) - 51%
- Castle: Allan Copsey (Reform UK) - 49%
- Glascote: Mark Abley (Reform UK) - 59%
- Mercian: Nick Thompson (Reform UK) - 45%
- Spital: Samuel Smith (Reform UK) - 45%
- Stonydelph: Paul Turner (Reform UK) - 55%
- Trinity: Bernard Skeen (Reform UK) - 55%
The scale of support was striking, with several candidates winning by convincing margins. However, because only a third of council seats were up for election, Reform UK did not gain overall control. The party now holds 10 seats, while Labour has 14 and the Conservatives retain three.
Future Governance
Following the election, discussions will be necessary to determine how the council will be run going forward. The results mark a significant change in Tamworth's political landscape, with Reform UK emerging as a major force.
